ARSIS – Association for the Social Support of Youth is announcing a position for a Cultural Mediator/Translator for Urdu/Punjabi, for the streetwork interventions of ARSIS in Thessaloniki.
Framework of interventions
ARSIS is deploying street work teams and case management services in Thessaloniki in order to identify, approach and support children at risk. The target group of the intervention is children at risk (i. UASC and ii. children with families on the move or residing in a state of homelessness).
ARSIS hasformed2 street work teams in Thessaloniki’s city center. Each one will be comprised of street workers (social scientists) and interpreter/s, working in 2 shifts per day, supported also by lawyer. ARSIS identifies and approaches children on the street, provide case management, legal support, administrational support and support upon services/ authorities, registration in National Center for Social Solidarity (EKKA) and the public prosecutor for Minors. It alsos provide material support, medical support via referrals, food provision to homeless children through snacks provided by the team or referral to other actors, food provision to UASC in protective custody though catering and psychosocial support.
The streetwork interventions are part of the project “Child protection, detention monitoring, persons with disabilities support and legal aid in Central and North Greece, Attica and Dodecanese” is implemented by UNHCR and co-funded by the European Union.

Necessary qualification
– Very good knowledge of Greek or English language
– Very good knowledge of Urdu/Punjabi
– Previous professional experience in relative field
– Collaboration and team work skills
– Ability to work under pressure
Desired qualification
– Driver license
– Knowledge of another language
– Previous experience with refugees and vulnerable groups
– Volunteering
Working hours (weekly); 30 hours
