Φοιτητές της Νομικής Σχολής του Brunel University London επισκέφθηκαν δομές και υπηρεσίες της ΑΡΣΙΣ – Κοινωνική Οργάνωση Υποστήριξης Νέων στη Θεσσαλονίκη προκειμένου να ενημερωθούν για τη δουλειά στο πεδίο της υπεράσπισης των δικαιωμάτων των παιδιών.
Τους φοιτητές συνόδευαν η καθηγήτρια Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων και Ειδική Επίτροπος για τα Πολιτιστικά Δικαιώματα στον ΟΗΕ Αλεξάνδρα Ξανθάκη και η καθηγήτρια Ευρωπαϊκού Δικαίου Ερμιόνη Ξανθοπούλου.
Σε ενημερωτική συνάντηση με τους φοιτητές και τις καθηγήτριές τους ο υπεύθυνος Συνηγορίας της ΑΡΣΙΣ Κώστας Κυρμανίδης και ο υπεύθυνος του Γραφείου Τύπου της ΑΡΣΙΣ Κώστας Κεκελιάδης (φωτογραφία) μίλησαν για το νομικό καθεστώς που ισχύει αναφορικά με τους ασυνόδευτους ανήλικους αιτούντες άσυλο ή πρόσφυγες, καθώς και για τους τρόπους μετάδοσης και το περιεχόμενο ειδήσεων σχετικά με το προσφυγικό ζήτημα στην Ελλάδα.
Το πρόγραμμα Συνηγορίας της ΑΡΣΙΣ έχει τίτλο “Improving Living Conditions for Unaccompanied Minors (UAMs) and Defending their Fundamental Rights” και χρηματοδοτείται από τη Μη Κυβερνητική Οργάνωση “GermanDoctors e.V.”.

Law students of Brunel University visited ARSIS in Thessaloniki
Students of the Law School of Brunel University London visited structures and services of ARSIS -Association for the Social Support of Youth in Thessaloniki in order to learn moreabout the work in the field of defending children’s rights.
The students were accompanied by AlexandraXanthaki, Professor of Human Rights and Special Commissioner for Cultural Rights at the UN, and Hermione Xanthopoulou, Professor of European Law.
In an informative meeting with the students and their teachers, ARSIS Advocacy Officer Kostas Kyrmanidis and the Head of the Press Office of ARSIS Kostas Kekeliadis (photo) spoke about the legal status of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers or refugees, as well as about the ways of broadcasting news regarding the refugee issue in Greece.
The Advocacy Program of ARSIS is entitled “Improving Living Conditions for Unaccompanied Minors (UAMs) and Defending their Fundamental Rights” and is funded by the NGO “German Doctors e.V.“.
