A journey into the world of art for unaccompanied minors residing in the Safe Zone of the Fylakio RIC, organized by the ARSIS Child Protection Team in the Evros region

Art, and particularly painting, is one of the most significant forms of human expression, with the power to inspire, educate, and nurture creativity. Engaging with art is vital for children, as it helps them develop critical thinking, imagination, and emotional intelligence. At the same time, the stories of great artists serve as a source of inspiration, teaching children the importance of perseverance, innovation, and creative expression. Unaccompanied minors residing in the Safe Area of RIC in Fylakio, had the opportunity to engage directly with these values, getting to know famous artists and artworks, and even creating their art pieces. During the activity, the children expressed their thoughts, emotions, and experiences through painting, while also being encouraged to collaborate and exchange ideas.

Through this interactive experience, they discovered aspects of themselves they may never have had the chance to explore, while simultaneously developing skills such as patience, perseverance, and teamwork. This initiative serves as a dynamic starting point for the children to cultivate their creativity and explore the arts as a means of expression and personal growth. Through the activity, they were given the opportunity to see art as a vibrant and accessible tool that can help them uncover their talents and build their self-confidence. The ARSIS Child Protection Team in Evros region (RIC Fylakio) operates under the program “Supporting Unaccompanied Migrant Children at the Northern Greek Borders and LesvosSafe Area (MERIMNA III – PROTECTION AT GREEK BORDERS)”, which is implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Greece with the support of the Czech Republic.
