ARSIS – Association for the Social Support of Youth, announces a new position for the Child Protection Mobile Unit in the Region of Thrace in the framework of the project “Supporting the Greek Authorities in Managing the National Reception System for Asylum Seekers and Vulnerable Migrants (SMS 2020) funded by the DG Home Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund – Emergency Assistance through the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

ARSIS: ARSIS – Association for the Social Support of Youth is a social non-governmental organization that has been active since 1992 at national level to support children and young people and defend their rights. ARSIS works mainly with young people and occasionally with younger children or adults who experience life-threatening conditions for their smooth personal development and access to social goods. In addition, ARSIS is developing services to facilitate the integration of socially vulnerable groups (homeless, migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, poor, Roma, etc.) and the defense of human rights.
Project framework: ARSIS in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been implementing a Mobile Child Protection Unit in the region of Thrace since February 2019. The purpose of this unit is to support and protect unaccompanied minors and minors separated from their parents among the newly arrived refugee population in Evros. This team focuses on its intervention at the Reception and Identification Center in Fylakio (Evros) and visits the local Police Departments, the Pre-Departure Detention Centers for Foreigners, the Border Guard Departments as well as the Migration Services in the wider region of Thrace for the detection and the support of the above-mentioned population.

Position: Interpreter / Cultural Mediator
Number of Positions: 1
Purpose of the job: The support of the ARSIS Child Protection Mobile Unit in the region of Thrace through the interpretation.
Job Description: The Interpreter / Cultural Mediator will be responsible for the proper interpretation of individual sessions with the unaccompanied minors entering Greece from the borders of Evros and the assurance that they are properly informed about the situation in the country, their rights and the identification procedures. He/She will accompany and support the team through interpretation in all its interventions in the wider region of Thrace, either through physical presence or by telephone.
Necessary qualifications and experience:
• Very good knowledge of Dari
• Very good knowledge of Greek or English
• Collaborative skills in group environment
• Ability to work under pressure
Desirable qualifications:
• Car driver’s license
• Knowledge of a second foreign language (Farsi, Pashtu, Kurmanji, Sorani, Urdu, French)
• Volunteering
• Experience in ethics and sensitive data management.
• Previous professional experience of one (1) year in a related subject
