The basic principles and available tools for the protection of children in the digital environment were discussed by MEPs, policymakers, experts, and civil society organizations working for children\u2019s rights, including ARSIS \u2013 Association for the Social Support of Youth on Wednesday 17 April at the European Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event entitled \u201cDemystifying age-assurance to protect children online\u201d was organized by the European Parliament\u2019s Intergroup on Children\u2019s Rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion focused on defining how companies providing online and technology services should confirm the age of children before giving access to their services and the consequences for children\u2019s healthy development of viewing violent and age-inappropriate images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The use of technology for facial recognition and age verification is just one of the ways that can protect children in the digital environment and guarantee a child-friendly Internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
