Monthly\nreport 7 – Giusy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have\nreached the end of this incredible experience and, even if there are still ten\ndays to go, I can say that this is my last update!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I start\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will finish my ESC project on the 9th of May and I am planning to\nspend one week more in this city, for many reasons: to take the advantage to\nmake more trips, and for volunteering with QRT Quick Response Team: an\norganization which works in the refugee camps of Diavata and Vaiochori. Its job\nis mainly to offer support (food, blankets, clothes, medicines, medical\nsupport\u2026) as a quick response of the basic needs of residents in the camps, in\nthose moments when the government\u2019s support isn\u2019t enough. In addition, it\nprovides formal and nonformal education for little girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I decided to\nstay more also because i want to spend all the Ramadan period here, that will\nbe end on the 12th of May, to share with the muslis i knew, all the magic\nmoments of this daily routine and, of course, the preparation of delicious\nmeals to eat when the sun would be gone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking part, for a few times, of some traditions different than mine, is\nsomething that fascinated me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week at the House of Arsis, I enjoyed with Muna the preparation of\na typical Somali dish, and it was so funny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is called \u201cSambusi\u201d and is a triangle piece of paste done by flavor\nand water with meat, onion and spices inside. So delicious!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third\nreason why I want to extend my stay here is to take advantage of the end of the\nrestrictions (hopefully before summer) to explore places I haven\u2019t seen yet,\namong them \u03a7\u03b1\u03bb\u03ba\u03b9\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ae\nbeaches!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I have to give an account of this experience, I feel so lucky to have\nhad the possibility to live for almost one year abroad, despite this pandemic\nwhere a lot of people cannot move and a lot of people have had to stop their\nwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time I feel proud of myself because carrying out this kind\nof experience, with a strong exposure to health risk, tests your awareness and\nwillingness to move forward in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I recognize that without the help of my organization, above all at the\nbeginning, I would have much more difficulties in continuing my project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I always\nwill be grateful to ARSIS for that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will come\nback home with the awareness of the skills I have acquired in social work, with\na greater awareness of myself, of my needs and of the interaction with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
