NO LOCKDOWN CAN STOP ME!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the first\namazing month here in Thessaloniki volunteering with ARSIS the Covid-19 virus\nsituation started to get worst and worst\u2026.and the lockdown was stated!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lockdown began\nofficially on November the 2nd<\/sup>, and there are rumors that it will\nprobably be extended beyond November 30th<\/sup>, a date initially set for\nits end. When our lovely coordinator gave us the news, the situation left me\nembittered but, above all, scared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I felt fear for my\nhealth, the health of the people around me, the health of all the boys and\ngirls with whom I work, I felt the fear thinking about my family in Italy from\nwhich I am far away. A lot of questions came to my mind: how to proceed with\nour ESC project? What to do during the whole entire days completely at home? How\nto let the time pass without feeling the anxiety?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost when I was\nfeeling overwhelmed with thoughts, my extremely positive and resilient nature\ndidn\u2019t allow me to be discouraged!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, after a\nfirst moment of panic and anxiety, I started thinking about how to take\nadvantage of this new lockdown period. My first thought immediately ran to the\nguys I followed at the House of Arsis: who knows what a state of worry and\nconfusion they must have been in too!! I remembered I am here for them, to\nsupport them and to help them in every possible way, and there are a lot of\nways in which we can help people in 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How could I\ncontinue in the activities I had started with them, with so much enthusiasm?? Using\nthe power of internet, of course! I decided to propose to my coordinator this\nsuch an easy idea: keep on doing English and French classes online. The idea\nhas been enthusiastically received by my students too, and so we started the\nonline lessons. The difficulties are certainly not few: the internet connection\nthat comes and goes, the difficulty of motivating these vulnerable young people\nwithout being able to see them in person\u2026But the moments together online are\nalways precious!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another challenge\nof this period is certainly that of not being free to go out and fully enjoy\nthis wonderful city, even if I do not deprive myself of a daily walk by the\nsea. Thanks to the constantly support of our coordinator, I feel safe here,\nfollowing all the rules provided by the Greek authorities. Moreover, I am fortunately\nsurrounded by my wonderful flatmates: this lockdown is giving us the chance to\nspend time together, to better know each other, to learn Greek also together and,\nwhy not, to do some \u201chome activities\u201d together like pilates and yoga classes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I feel so grateful\nto be safe and active to support vulnerable people also during this difficult\ntime. I can definitely say that my quote of the month is: \u201cNo lockdown can stop\nme!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
