This culture was born\nin the Bronx, the quartier of New York in the 70s. It highlights a context of\nsocial disadvantages which could be compared to many contexts in the world of\nnowadays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>I call it \u201c<em>the other side of the world<\/em>\u201d, and by that I mean the one who goes\nslowly, the less visible, the one that makes life harder for different reasons,\nabove all political. A world where sometimes you don\u2019t have access to basic\nservices, and your lifestyle is not to collect money as a goal for your\nsatisfaction. A world where you live out of the concept of materiality because\nyour priorities are further. In this context, made of doubts and\nprecariousness, was born an art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hip Hop doesn\u2019t talk only about\nmusic. It talk about life, the street lifestyle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cHow you act, walk, look and talk is all\npart of Hip Hop culture. And the music is colorless. Hip Hop music is made from\nBlack, brown, yellow, red and white.&#8221; &#8211; Africa Bambaata<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have approached this culture\nsince I was a child because I was always fascinated to know cultures which were\napparently far from mine: the <em>other side\nof the world<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I spent my teenage years in a small village in the poorest\nregion of south Italy, playing in the street and I think that influenced my\ngrowth temperamentally, not to grow up under the dominant values of\nmaterialism, or under the educational forms of television and media. I was free\nto create my form of expression through the interaction with other friends. It\nhelped me to give voice to my instinct and to my personality, and I realized it\nwhen, while I was attending the ballet school, I was making an enormous effort\nto stay under the discipline and rigor concepts coming from the aristocratic\nenvironment where classical ballet was born.
