Patience\nand resilence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m about reaching\nhalf of my volunteering experience and I can\u2019t feel more grateful  and lucky than I do of have being selected to\nparticipate in this beautiful project within Arsis. I knew that I was going to\nlearn quite a lot of things, but I couldn\u2019t imagine how much this experience\nwas going to change the way I see the reality around me and the way I behave\nmyself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now things start to get quiet and calm, after the\nfirst weeks of craziness that usually people go through while trying to adapt\nto a new and different culture. I have to admit that my culture of origin, the Spanish\none, doesn\u2019t differ too much from the Greek, but any way it has been a bit\nchallenging for me. And for sure I have to thank a lot all the people that made\nthis simple, specially our dear Maggi, Eva and Panos, the responsible of the\nESC volunteering program, who are always there to help us with everything we\nneed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the\nproject I was feeling a little stressed about all the lessons I had to prepare,\nbecause my project now consist basically in teaching English and guitar. I\nthought that maybe it was time for a change and it was possible to explore\nother different projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

During the first days I had the opportunity to try\ngoing on street work, which consist mostly on accompany people who needs help\nregarding appointments at the hospital, or maybe with some paper work, or to\nfind where to stay… That kind of things; and I really liked it, so I\nconsidered it and I decided it was something that could make me feel good.\nAfter discussing it with my supervisor we together decided that I was going to\ndo street work twice a week and the other three days I would stay at the centre\ngoing on with the lessons I had. I\u2019m really excited about this change and I\nthink it will make my volunteering experience more satisfying. So I\u2019ll tell you\nin my next report!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming back to the\nlearning process, I have no words to express how much all this is giving to me\nin terms of practical knowledge. I have never been as patient as I\u2019m being\nright now, and I think it\u2019s something that I\u2019ll feel grateful all my life. And\nof course, after all the stories I\u2019ve hear about all the people that leave\ntheir countries looking for a better life, I can\u2019t do anything but admire their\ncapacity for being resilient, for passing through all those inconveniences and\nstill going on. They make me feel so wondered about how incredible human beings\ncan be.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
