\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe program "Improving Living Conditions for Unaccompanied Minors\n(UAMs) & Defending their Fundamental Rights" of ARSIS - Association\nfor the Social Support of Youth Support, started in September 2021. The\nprogram is funded by the humanitarian organization "German Doctors\ne.V." and has been renewed until March of the year 2024.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Advocacy team consists of lawyers Mr. Kyrmanidis Kostas,\nCoordinator of the program (Advocacy and Lobbying Officer), Ms.\nArgyriou Anthi, as Advocacy Officer and Mr. Kekeliadis Costas,\nCommunication and Administrative Officer.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The target group of the program is unaccompanied minors (UAMs)\nnationals of third countries, as well as young adults - former\nunaccompanied minors. At the core of the program's activities are\nadvocacy actions and legal representation of the beneficiaries in Courts\nfor issues related to their legal stay in the country.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

More specifically, the main object of the program is to identify legislative\ngaps regarding child protection or practices that are not compatible with\nthe rights of children and young nationals of third countries. ARSIS\nAdvocacy team\u2019s aim is to highlight the relevant issues and resolve\nthem, as well as to create networks with other Civil Society\nOrganisations, in order to achieve the intended purpose.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A typical case of the Advocacy group's action is the highlighting of the\nlack of a special residence permit for unaccompanied minors and young\nadults, who came to Greece as unaccompanied children due to the\nvulnerability associated with their age.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

From May 2022, ARSIS in collaboration with other civil society\norganizations, established the Child Rights Advocacy Network (CRAN),\nclaimed the granting of a residence permit to all unaccompanied children\nwho are in Greece, as well as to those of them, who have already\nreached adulthood. Our above efforts were successful, as with the Law\n5038\/2023, for the first time, unaccompanied children, who reach\nadulthood are now given the opportunity to obtain a residence permit for\nten years under conditions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

An important part of the program concerns also the legal representation\nof unaccompanied children, even after they reach adulthood, before the\nCourts in cases related to their request for International Protection and\ntheir legal stay in the country. From January 2022 until today, more than\n\nthirty-one (31) children and young adults have been represented in the\nAdministrative Courts for the annulment of decisions to return to their\ncountry of origin. Thirty (30) of them have already received their asylum\ncard back and are legally residing in the country, pending the issuance\nof a final decision on the annulment application.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
