The annual general assembly of the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM),held in Madrid, was attended by ARSIS-Association for the Social Support of Youth in the context of the advocacy actions of the program entitled “Improving Living Conditions for Unaccompanied Minors (UAMs) and Defending their Fundamental Rights”.
ARSIS, one of the 158 civil society organizations participating in PICUM, participated in the annual general assembly and the working groups held during the conference from 22 to 24 May. διάρκεια του συνεδρίου.
In the framework of the Member Group on Undocumented Children, families, and Youth, the lawyer and Advocacy Officer of the Organization, Mr. Kostas Kyrmanidis, presented - together with the representative of SolidarityNow Ms Marina Kanda - the institutional framework and the problems arising from the procedures for age assessment of unaccompanied children in Greece.
Proposals to improve existing procedures, especially through the use of technological means, were discussed to achieve a faster and more accurate age determination.
