Healthy Eating Education: Bridging Cultures and Wellness

The child protection team of ARSIS organized an activity within the Safe Area of RIC Fylakio, aimed at promoting healthy nutrition and informing children about the importance of a balanced diet in their daily lives, especially considering the challenges they face. During the event, participants learned about the value of nutrients, the variety in the foods and vitamins included, and how they can adapt their eating habits to their new living conditions without losing the nutritional traditions of their culture. Also, special emphasis was placed on practical issues such as preparing healthy meals with available ingredients and the importance of hygiene during food preparation. Young people had the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops where they prepared simple, nutritious recipes with guidance from team members. This initiative aimed to enhance the children’s well-being by providing them with the necessary tools to adopt healthy eating habits that can physically and psychologically support them in their new environment.

The ARSIS Child Protection Team in Evros region (RIC Fylakio) operates under the program “Supporting Unaccompanied Migrant Children at the Northern Greek Borders and LesvosSafe Area (MERIMNA III – PROTECTION AT GREEK BORDERS)”, which is implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Greece with the support of the Czech Republic.
